PPC is committed to bringing the benefits of proven, open-source products to our Government and Commercial clients. An open-source approach maximizes the impact of dwindling Agency and Departmental budgets by removing vendor lock-in, and realizing a lower total cost of ownership, and leveraging open-source’s greater flexibility and commitment to interoperability.

Enterprise Open Source Architecture

Overview

PPC has multi-disciplined teams developing open-source based solutions enabling public and private-sector customers to make the most of their limited IT budgets. We design solutions that are: maintainable, extensible, reusable, and interoperable. Our main focus areas include:

Open-source Service Oriented Architectures (SOA 2.0) – Based on Red Hat’s open-source JBoss middleware platform, PPC is helping the National Archives manage archival holdings across their organization in new and innovative ways. Leveraging the power of the JBoss Enterprise Service Bus, together with the Apache ActiveMQ message queue, PPC has provided the National Archives with a true Asynchronous Message-based Platform (AMP) allowing the National Archives to effectively share data and processes across their organization.

Open-source Content Management Solutions – Based on the Alfresco open-source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform, PPC is helping customers share, organize, and protect their content while simultaneously embracing the rapid changes that mobile, social, cloud and globalization bring to the ECM landscape. With Alfresco, PPC has implemented solutions that are compliant with the Dodd-Frank and BASEL III retention standards, support open standards (such as CMIS, CIFS, WebDAV, RESTful APIs, Soap) and help agencies implement the Open Government Directive. As open-source, there is no upfront license fee. Support subscriptions may be purchased to cover upgrades and maintenance.

Open-source Analytical and Data Visualization Solutions – Leveraging the powerful Pentaho open-source data analytics platform, PPC is helping customers, such as the Office of Management and Budget, analyze, visualize and report on their data. Pentaho combines the benefits of open-source with power comparable to most proprietary Business Intelligence (BI) products. With native support for Hadoop and NoSQL databases, Pentaho consistently ranks among the top OLAP engines, and with a broad reporting and dashboarding toolset, Pentaho has enjoyed excellent customer satisfaction.
