May 20, 2010

McLean, VA—Project Performance Corporation (PPC) announced today that it is joining forces with Taxonomy Strategies – a leader in intranet, public website and e-commerce taxonomy applications. This agreement will further strengthen PPC’s expertise in taxonomy design, knowledge management, and systems integration services, as well as deepen its subject matter expertise in information management.  The Taxonomy Strategies brand and website will be retained and co-branded with PPC.

“This milestone marks the beginning of a new and exciting era for PPC,” stated Zach Wahl, Director of Information Management at PPC, “Taxonomy Strategies provides the perfect extension of PPC’s taxonomy and metadata services, ensuring that we will continue to provide unmatched leadership in the Information Management field.”

During the past eight years, Taxonomy Strategies has emerged as a leader in developing information management frameworks for clients who are major players in the oil and gas, aerospace, environmental, telecommunications, electronics, software and other technical sectors. Taxonomy Strategies’ business model has been to partner with other organizations to deliver world-class services to large organizations.

“Joining PPC will allow us to refine our partnering relationships and focus on delivering more complete solutions to meet our clients’ information management application needs,” said Joseph A. Busch, founder of Taxonomy Strategies, “whether they be standards frameworks, governance, or enterprise content management applications.”

Taxonomy Strategies was founded by information scientists who met at Metacode Technologies, a start-up company that built the MetaTagger automated categorization solution acquired by Interwoven in 2001. Taxonomy Strategies has been involved in projects for government agencies including development of the content model for the official portal of the U.S. government usa.gov, and for international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund. A third area of leadership has been work on e-commerce merchandising taxonomies to enable cross-selling, up-selling and personalization by category rather than item.
