Enterprise Information Management (EIM)
Information is considered as one of the most important assets in any organization, however effectively managing and leveraging information to drive the business results still is an unfulfilled dream for most of them. This white paper identifies key building blocks of Enterprise Information Management and provides a brief discussion on critical success factors for each.
In this paper, “Information” is differentiated from “Data” in the sense that “Information” is a piece of knowledge that can be gleaned by a collecting, analyzing and correlating data sets from various parts of the organization and presented to a human being in a certain context. While organizations have spent significant effort during past decade managing, collecting and storing data, business users still suffer from the lack of understanding, poor quality and irrelevance of the data presented to them. As a result, while business users have access to lot of data, it offers very little business value to them.
