Michael J. Nigro
President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman
Mr. Nigro joined Project Performance Corporation as President and COO in 2003, with the mission to help the Company expand its presence in the federal management and IT consulting arena. Since that time, the Company has tripled in size, growing organically to nearly $50 million in annual revenue, with more than 300 professionals located throughout the Washington metropolitan region.
In September 2004, Mr. Nigro led an executive management buyout of company founder Dr. R.F. “Rick” Shangraw, Jr. Under Mr. Nigro’s direction, Project Performance Corporation continues to grow with a workplace culture that fosters creativity, promotes career advancement, and rewards productivity.
Before joining Project Performance Corporation, Mr. Nigro had 25 years of experience managing and helping to build consulting firms working in the federal, commercial, and international markets. He spent the first 20 years of his career with Planning Research Corporation, where he eventually became president of a $130 million PRC subsidiary. After this subsidiary was sold to Tetra Tech Inc., Mr. Nigro eventually became a Corporate Officer and Executive Vice President for Tetra Tech’s Resource Management Group, a $400 million enterprise.
Mr. Nigro is actively involved in numerous community programs, including Homestretch, an organization that empowers homeless families though education and training; the Children’s Inn at NIH, which helps families stay with their children during serious illnesses; and the Newton Marasco Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to work collaboratively on issues related to environmental stewardship through the areas of education, greening, and awards.
Mr. Nigro holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
