Ms. Martha A. Madden has been a Board Member since 2005. President of mMadden Associates, LLC (offices in Washington, D.C. and New Orleans, Louisiana), she is an executive consultant expert in governmental affairs, environmental management, health, education, and economic development.
With over 30 years of technical, management, and executive experience with both public and private companies, Ms. Madden’s portfolio includes successful management of finance, human resources, legal, operations, and information systems activities. Her commitment to establishing dynamic, entrepreneurial business environments has led to her appointment as Corporate Vice President at a number of private corporations specializing in research, science, regulatory, and major policy activities, including positions at Tetra Tech and other multi-billion dollar companies.
Governmental affairs is a central area of expertise for Ms. Madden. She has served as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality; as a member of the Louisiana Governor’s Energy Commission; and as Coordinator of Louisiana’s Office of Permits. She has provided valued service to top officials in local, state, and national governments as a legislative assistant in Washington, D.C., and as an environmental lobbyist. During her service at the U.S. Department of Energy, she worked in the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste and as Special Assistant to the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management. In addition, she was appointed by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation to serve on the Chemical Transportation Advisory Board with the U.S. Coast Guard. For 10 years, she served as an appointed volunteer (Security Clearance) to the National Defense Executive Reservists (FEMA), and also served on the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Terrorism Task Force and the Cyber Threats of the Future Task Force.
Louisiana has recently inducted Ms. Madden into the Hall of Fame at the Louisiana Center for Women and Government at Nicholls State University. Among other awards, she has received a Certificate of Appreciation for Meritorious Service from the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy; the Outstanding Employee Award from the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste; and the “Pioneer Award” from the U.S. EPA for her work with the Small Business Assistance Program.
In addition to earlier degrees, Ms. Madden has attended advanced graduate studies at Stanford University in California. She has traveled in 70 countries, and has attended and lectured at such institutions as United Nations Conferences, London Business School, and Taiwan University.
