Amy Marasco Newton

An executive management consultant with over 28 years of experience services government agencies, Ms. Newton has been a Board Member since 2005. 

She is an accomplished entrepreneur, having started and sold three companies. Most recently, Ms. Newton served as founder, President, and CEO of Marasco Newton Group, Ltd., a $50 million environmental consulting firm. The 350-person, employee-owned company was recognized with numerous awards for its industry leadership, community service, and innovative employee-oriented programs. In 2001, the firm was sold to a large information technology company, and Ms. Newton oversaw the merger and acquisition activities.

Currently, Ms. Newton is President of the Newton Marasco Foundation (NMF), a public charity focused on inspiring and educating businesses, communities, and students to be better environmental stewards. She led the startup of this public foundation and oversees all of its operations. The Foundation offers environmental education programs, internships, and scholarships, and provides technical experts for academic and community environmental programs. NMF helps businesses to “green” their internal processes and product services. The Foundation also awards the nation’s only Green Earth Book Award for authors of books on environmental stewardship for children and young adults.

Ms. Newton’s technical expertise is most recognized in support of Clean Water, Superfund, and Brownfields programs. For these programs, she led an array of management improvement and organizational studies that resulted in making government programs more efficient and effective. Ms. Newton assisted senior government executives in defining and implementing quality management practices, and has helped agency administrators and senior officials create more effective management operations. In particular, she has addressed client agencies’ needs for leadership systems, strategic planning, mission and vision setting, communication strategies, customer needs, process improvement, and teamwork.

Ms. Newton has extensive experience managing multi-million dollar, multi-year federal government contracts. She has managed more than $80 million in Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Fixed Price, and Time and Materials contracts for the Environmental Protection Agency. She coordinated delivery of over one million hours of consulting services to EPA programs. She was recognized by EPA contracts and program offices for managing this high volume of work and for never overrunning a contract assignment.

Ms. Newton served as a Board Member on the Marasco Newton Group Board of Directors and the Whittaker Foundation Board. She was also a Board Member of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia and was on the Executive Committee of Habitat for Humanity. She is currently on the Board of two privately held environmental corporations and on the NMF Executive Board.
